GIRL TALK RULES AND REGULATIONSY

GIRL TALK RULES AND REGULATIONS TO NOTEÖ

  1. 1. REMEMBER, THE JTDC IS JAIL! Girl Talk is held at the Cook County Temporary Detention Center, located on the 2nd floor of the Juvenile Court building at 1100 South Hamilton (near Roosevelt Road and Ogden Avenue). You must go through a metal detector upon entering the building. Any possessions, other than your identification and necessary personal items, should not be taken into the JTDC, as they may be taken away from you and not returned. Items such as pepper spray/mace, drugs, swiss army knives, weapons, cameras or videos are considered contraband.

  2. 2. BE ON TIME! The Girl Talk session begins at 3:00 p.m. However, everyone must meet in the second floor waiting area by 2:30 in order to sign in and review any last minute information about the programming. If you arrive late, you may not be able to get back to the chapel area and participate in the program. The program ends between 4:30 and 4:45 p.m. You cannot leave early, so plan to stay for the entire session.

  3. 3. THINGS YOU CANNOT SAY OR ASK! - Do not give your personal address or phone number. You may give them a business card with your information. - Do not talk to the girls about their case, as you could be called to testify against them in court. Everything you hear or learn about the girls is confidential. - Do not ask the girls for their address, phone number or SSN. - Do not use profanity.
  4. 4. THINGS YOU CANNOT BRING INTO THE JTDC! No scissors, rubber bands, staples or paper clips in materials to be given out to the girls. - If you bring in pens or pencils, you must count them before and after the session (if the girls are found with pens or pencils once they return to the unit, they will be held in confinement). - Do not distribute condoms to the girls. - Do not chew gum or bring in food for the girls without the specific permission of the Girl Talk Coordinator and the JTDC.
  5. 5. DO NOT TAKE ITEMS OUT OF THE JTDC FOR THE GIRLS! - This includes mail, small packages or videos made during the program. This is very important!! Even though it may seem perfectly harmless to mail a letter for a girl, the mail could be directed to the victim (in the form of a threat) or include information relative to their case. You could be charged with a criminal offense if you do any of the above. Your action could also result in the Girl Talk program being cancelled.
  6. 6. DO NOT TURN OUT THE LIGHTS DURING GIRL TALK SESSIONS! Even during movies or videos, never turn out the lights. The lights take 4-6 minutes to come back on and this causes complete chaos.
  7. 7. NO ONE UNDER 21 IS ALLOWED IN THE JTDC. THIS INCLUDES GUESTS, RESOURCE PEOPLE AND BABIES! If you want to bring a guest to Girl Talk, you must inform the Girl Talk Coordinator so that she can obtain approval from the JTDC Administration.
