As the young women grapple with issues as diverse as access, education, employment, sexuality and growing up with disabilities, they address their audience with a sense of urgency, as if to say, "I need to tell you so you'll see me differently." BEYOND DISABILITY: THE FE FE STORIES - A TEACHER'S GUIDE is a MUST for educators who show Beyond Disability in classroom and workshop settings. The guide is divided into three topics: Difference and Stereotype, Relationships, and Rights. Each topic has several activities to choose from that are designed to stimulate critical thinking about the material. Students are engaged through role play, vivid visual and spatial representations, using their bodies, drawing, reflecting on themselves, sharing experiences and opinions, and working together to strategize solutions. Definitions of key terms, supplemental information, and ideas for projects are also provided. The guide is made with high school classrooms in mind but it can easily adapted for younger students or adult education contexts.
