Join us for the premiere screening of Beyondmedia's new video, Can LGBTQ + School=Safe? at Gerber Hart Gay and Lesbian Archives and Library (1127 W. Granville in Chicago at the Granville Red line stop). Doors open at 6:30 PM, program 7-9 pm. $20 donation at the door. Refreshments will be served and a panel discussion will take place after the screening. Panelists include Stacey Horn - University of Illinois at Chicago, Zaida Sanabia and Salome Chasnoff - Beyondmedia Education, Shannon Kenney - CESO, Amina Chaudhri - Beyondmedia Education and Bell Elementary School, Brian Roa - GSA co-advisor Senn High School. All proceeds will be shared between Beyondmedia Education and the Coalition for Education on Sexual Orientation (CESO) to support their innovative community-based work to make schools safe for all GLBTQ youth and staff!

Beyond Disability: The Fe Fe Stories screens at the San Francisco Public Library with other winning films from this year's Superfest from 12:30 to 4:30pm. This event is co-sponsored by the San Francisco Mayor's Office on Disability and the San Francisco Public Library.

Beyond Disability: The Fe Fe Stories was chosen to receive an Achievement Award and a Spirit Award from Superfest, The International Disability Film Festival. One Spirit Award is given each year to a strong film that has a person with a disability involved in a significant role with the production!

Respect Me, Don't Media Me examines the portrayal of young women in music videos and other media. It also asks the questions: what does this kind of portrayal mean for young women? How does it affect our lives, our decisions, our relationships? And what can we do to change it?

Our Spanish version of A Fish Almost Eaten by a Shark premieres in Mexico! Mix Mexico, the Ninth Sexual Diversity Film/Video Festival, will be hosted from May 18 to 30 in various venues in Mexico City. Mix Mexico is a community event, and the first and oldest queer film festival in Hispanic America.

Beyondmedia is thrilled to announce that we will be honored with Crossroads Fund's prestigious Ron Sable Award for Activism for our "incredible work giving members of some of the most marginalized groups, including women in prison, young women, and women with disabilities, a voice." Thank you, Crossroads!

The award will be given at the upcoming Annual Benefit, Seeds of Change, which brings together activists, supporters, and community members from across the city of Chicago to celebrate innovative organizing and to raise funds for social change.

Mothers in the Prison System - On Thursday, January 20th please join the Chicago Chapter of the National Organization for Women and DePaul College Women's Studies Department for Mothers in the Prison System, a panel discussion addressing the needs and lives of incarcerated mothers. The event is free and will take place from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at DePaul's Munroe Hall, Rms. 114-116. The location is 2312 N. Clinton. Panelists include Susan George, Joanne Archibald, and Pamela Thomas, and there will be a screening of a Beyondmedia video about women in prison. Download the flyer for more information.

Who Stole the Soul? Beyondmedia has been chosen as the beneficiary of Who Stole the Soul?, an arts reception and fundraiser showcasing the creative talents of emerging and established artists of color. The exhibition features a variety of expressive art forms including drawing, painting, sculpture, live jazz, dance, and spoken word performance as well as screenings of Beyondmedia videos.
